Three reasons the minimum wage increase is bad.

As a kid, you might have been taught to work your ass off all day for $20. As an adult, you carried that through a recession, inflation & you’ve used the strong human character to accept circumstances you should blame making a sub-par living for!

Yes, minimum wage raising contributes to rising costs of living, but companies who take more than their share of resources, then pay out little to their communities should take this as a warning.

Employees aren’t talking about their wage to the companies that pay them flat anymore. They are going above their heads to the government to get their fair share!

  1. The absence of workers’ Unions– The government is doing the job for massive corporations that internal workers’ unions should be doing. The minimum wage standards are supposed to be there to regulate the smallest wage, not the absolute wage. Needing to negotiate your wage at the government level opposed to within a company is a feature of socialism, not capitalism.
  2. College graduates still get paid the same rate as non-qualified persons– Something needs to be done to validate our college programs in Canada. Otherwise, the programs should be eliminated. I strongly advocate for the removal of any media design programs and Television broadcasting programs from college institutions for example. Training for a job should lead to a job.
  3. Job elimination in small businesses – Don’t exaggerate this too much. I do feel small businesses should have a varying responsibility in wages than massive corporations. That being said unfortunately these companies are paying the price for a problem they are not primarily at fault for. Changing wages & offers does put massive stress on these businesses however that a two-tier wage system might eliminate.

Listen if you don’t want wages re-negotiated at the government level then here is what needs to happen. We need to bring back internal negotiations for wages in massive companies, We need to manage and eliminate future unnecessary debt in colleges. Lastly, we should hold small businesses less accountable than large businesses for the under waged population.

To anyone who was against this change employed by a larger organization or a company that serves large organizations.

Get over it, if your company has over 100 places of business and over a million customers, you can afford to pay employees more than $11.50-$13.00 hourly. Unfortunately, Canadians need real wages to fight inflation (Caused by global markets) Hopefully this will lead to an increase in recreational spending, investing and development.

“I’d rather have a job than a high mandated wage and no job.”

No, you are an idiot! Canada’s market is becoming similar to India with everyone working in Call Center, Tech & grunt work.  To keep up with our neighboring American economy we can’t be India! We have to grow, put money back in working class pockets and rely on proper spending to speed up our economic growth.

Me personally I would rather not live in a situation where working doesn’t guarantee me a future any better than selling drugs on the street. True story, making an honest living in Telecom in Belleville Ontario I earned less and had a lower quality of living than my neighbor who sold weed.

Final thoughts

The simple fact is this, Businessphere is equity funded, it is not profitable. It may never be profitable. We use Facebook & Instagram ad space to try & attract clients but we can only do so much at our current income bracket.

With a change in my external jobs, I can likely grow this project much more and find much more opportunities whilst keeping myself alive. I am still waiting on my big E Commerce account but all I can do is the dream.

I truly am Happy for the announcemnet of a future wage increase! Thank You Liberal government.

Why we aren’t currently social media marketing

Presentation1.png

Ashton Deroy writes: It is plain to see I still write Social media, website & SEO content. However I have not taken out any web based advertising in 2017 at all. Why haven’t I taken out any ad space? According to Marketline Instagram and Facebook are the best affordable mediums for a B2B targeted campaign.

What am I doing instead? I am relying on content to gain traction, I am reaching out in the community and utilizing the SEO tools with the WordPress.com Business package. Listen it is clear to see that within this year if I want to continue running my business I will need a new advertising + Sales campaign! It is just a matter of creating one that will bring in new contacts that I can convert in to clients. I am also going to hang up posters around Toronto.

It is also important to not here that it is great if Social Media Marketing boosts your idea! It is not great if your idea lives and dies with Social Media Marketing…

There is no conversion guarantees in Social media marketing. Some people like to think like, okay if I get in front of this ____ people, I will sell to 4% of the people! It is highly idealistic, but you a web based business, If you convert 1%, it is a miracle. Plus web businesses have the cliche flaw of being really under developed. I sold to my first client thanks to social media advertising, but it was a small sell.

Minimizing advertising to focus on development. Ironically, I saw Beaut doing this and I thought it was stupid as hell! It still kind of is, because my sales projects aren’t down just my advertising is down. Toronto Businessphere needs a new logo, we need to print merchandise & create a community relations plan.

Capital expansion. Ashton Deroy is going to be starting a job at Teleperformance in time to put a little capital in the business and keep fueling this little fire. Don’t let the internet fuel you, these businesses require a massive amount of capital to start, and a massive amount to keep going! Considering people that enhance Toronto-Businessphere get paid. The need is still present for full time employment to continue development of the brand.

My friend actually said “This is a good idea but I wouldn’t spend money on it until it makes money.” Having no business background she had no idea for an idea to make money you actually have to spend a lot of money. Business projects are long term investments that require capital to fund and can require increasing amounts of capital for five years before even approaching a break even point. This was something I learned through studying Financial accounting in school though, not from working telemarketing where her and I met.

I do see other people online begging for their projects to expand so it can become full time work. I actually don’t think that is what I want at this time… I think I am glad this project is still small because if it was big it would be out of control a bit. I also think I miss the working world and I can’t wait to go back in to it and develop more professionally.

Why some people need to turn the lights out on Technology.

Tech Obsession.png

Ashton Deroy discusses society’s over dependence on technology and personal solutions to rebuilding his own life.

In general in the past I have described over use of technology as the killer for intimate relationships, positive feelings about career & the end of close knit families. Although that doesn’t mean I have enforced the cell phones off dinner yet!  I used to have a job in Kingston and this one colleague would invite me to hang out for lunch frequently then call her girlfriend on her phone whilst ignoring me. This got to the point where I didn’t want to have lunch with the colleague. In this article I will discuss the connection between Millennials and their phones, the need for tech free spaces in the home and my own personal disconnect with technology.

In this video I discuss the unhealthy attachment Millennials the generation from 1981-1997 and their unhealthy attachment with their cellphones. I have explained the choice to replace sexual intimacy with a digital device and just the general apathetic detachment this generation has taken for all aspect of their life. One thing I did not do in this article was suggest an alternative, which was starting to disconnect more from your cellphone in your personal life, which I obviously feel is the solution to our over reliance on technology.

HAGUE, MATTHEW . “Stupid homes: Experts suggest people create space without technology.” The Globe and Mail. N.p., 18 Apr. 2017. Web. 12 May 2017. <The Globe & Mail and creating space with out technology>. This article discusses the boundaries of technology from the workplace to the home. The writer of this article is not thrilled with the idea of creating highly technologically reliant homes as opposed to the more traditionally human managed home. The article goes on to mention the scientific research about making space where technology doesn’t dominate the home and how that is linked to lower stress levels. The article defines this current time of technological advancement as an era of addiction.

What has technology done to my life? At this stage in my life technology has taken over my life. Most of my friends only speak to me on the internet, I use my computer to exercise, work, entertain myself and network. It is highly addictive because the power of the internet feels like you legitimately have the world at your fingertips. I mean it is the same rush that had me thinking I would start a wildly successful business in one year, while finding my true love and maintaining old friendships.  The truth is Internet businesses mostly fail, people who date online, are addicted to dating online and those old friendships are dead and because of my inability to accept that I prevent myself partially from making new friends!

What am I going to do about it? It is way past bed time for my technology, and it is time for it to take a break. I intend to start leaving my cellphone at home when I start my new job because I don’t need to bring this job, to my new job. Then I plan to stop dating, because I don’t even have romantic fantasies anymore, & lastly I plan to make new friends based on my environment instead of having Facebook Messenger friends 2/47.

My Smartphone tries to kill me and others with directions, Now let’s get a car to drive on those directions!

Self driving cars.png

Written by Ashton Deroy

Casner, Stephen M. The challenges of partially automated driving. N.p.: ACM Digital Library, 2016. Print. This is an article from the digital Library technologies data-base from Seneca College. It discusses the challenges in self-driven vehicle technology. This article helps to prove that this technology is much too risky to come to the market. I apply this to explain why it would be a dangerous technology on the Toronto Roads and Toronto Market. Highlights of this article are the lack of awareness in drivers, the need for manual control and consciousness and how similar technology in planes still has errors.

If anyone has taken direction to travel advice from a GPS recently they realize that this is not a perfect science. In face once when I was out on the road with my friend Kella, her GPS tried to kill us 2 times. Once by trying to drive us off a bridge, once trying to get us to turn in to oncoming traffic. Needless to say rational human common sense is what saved our lives! Now let’s remove that…

First off we are going to have issues when we encourage the drivers to be less attentive to the road. Secondly you can’t program a computer to account for every unpredictable element in Toronto. Lastly all technology has some acceptable amount of errors!

We thought our demises would be met by drunk or texting drivers, this was because it took away the focus from the driver and made them clumsy. How attentive are they going to be when we reduce the amount of time they navigate the vehicle? Some of us are like “Screw personal drivers! It is 2020 I want a computer to take me to work. I will draft up marketing documents in the car while it handles the medial tasks.” Meanwhile it is this logic that will remain the logic that puts us through the window of the car before we even make it to work. Why is this? It is because just like texting and drinking distracted drivers.  Automating the driver will have the pilot not thinking about driving as well.

Secondly how do you program a computerized driver to prepare for the other crazy drivers on a typical Toronto road? The Drivers who despite are supposed to stop at red lights, still manage to nearly kill people at crosswalks! The answer is you can’t. This is why people invented the process of defensive driving. This is not something you can really teach a machine because it something we learned through our human instincts.

Lastly all technology has an acceptable error rate. Honestly as long as a cell phone doesn’t explode. It will stand a chance on today’s tech market. What are the acceptable errors in automated driving? Losing signal in the middle of a highway and halting the drive? Or are we going to have some cool exploding robotic cars? Either way I don’t want to see it.

To conclude I don’t want the automated cars to even hit the market and the roads of Toronto. We will have distracted vehicle pilots, naive vehicle brains and unpredictable vehicle errors. Lets face it , Toronto is deadly enough without robotic cars! So I hope these never hit the market.

Technology: E commerce stupidity.

E commerce stupidity .png

Written by Ashton Deroy: If you build the website they will come. This is not f***** field of dreams. You are not F***** Kevin Costner!

Three dumb things you hear when setting up E commerce pages:

  1. Market off your profits, as a new eCommerce business– No you market off of your goal profits. You allocate capital accordingly, if you invest 0 time, money or work in advertising your sales will  reflect that.
  2. Why are you sharing that blog post on Facebook/Instagram? – How do you think people are going to find your f***** post you dumb son of a B****. Further more I am the publicist you are the client you stupid mother f***** who has never worked over a few months in freelance sales. Don’t you f****** how I share social media content.
  3. I don’t post on my business Facebook/Instagram that often, why don’t I make sales? – You need to make 10 impressions a day you moron and you do nothing to delegate that. Like I don’t know, find a Publicist digitally.

Don’t be a dumb son of B****

3 effective, low cost business softwares

3 effective, low cost business softwares.png

Written by Ashton Deroy

If you are in sales, event management or marketing in general. You need to be utilizing all of your software resources to the best of their abilities.

Avoid communications dinosaurs.png

Set up a business professional website for only $40 a month. (Payable by annum)

To do this, start coming up with problems and looking for software solutions.

  1. Collaboration software – Don’t use an email back and for system. It is archaic and annoying and no one is on the same page. You need to use Google Drive to Synchronize your teams on important projects.
  2. Meetings and voice messaging – For really important conversations I am starting to record video messages on SnapChat.
  3. Customer acquisition and events promotion – Facebook & Instagram are still the standard to handle this.

What is your IPhone 7 really worth?

Iphones.png

Hey this is Ashton Deroy and when it comes to technology and me you are never going to meet someone who is more pro-tech than me. When I ask how much your IPhone 7 with a 5.5 inch screen and 128 GB of space is really worth? What do you think I mean by that? If you answered with anything else but “What is it worth in the value it brings to your life?” You are wrong.

To determine the worth I am going to use IPhone’s features, possible add on applications and Benefits to prove your IPhone is possibly worth every penny if you use it correctly.

Simply yoga.png

This app is called Simply yoga. Just because the app is free on your IPhone does not mean this app doesn’t provide you with a massive value. First off lets look at the benefits of yoga health wise:

    • Increased flexibility.
    • Weight Reduction
    • Cardio Circulatory health
    • Improved athletic performance
    • Decrease in back pain.

The value for professional yoga classes are $99 a month. Versus using this free app and your own body to stretch at home. I have been using this app for 3 years every day which means I have saved a total of,

99 * 12 = 1188* 3 = $3564

Which proves from using this tool I have all ready saved money. 1179/3564 = 33% that has been saved by doing software yoga versus professional classes.

Professional value

Having a cellphone is now the alternative computer. While it is tough to put an exact value on the cellphone job to job. In sales if you do not have a smart phone you have a dumb phone! For social media selling you need a phone that can manage your Facebook, WordPress, Snap Chat and Instagram channels.

Depending on what you are able to sell from these channels this can help determine furthering the value of your phone professionally.

Organizational value

Try taking away a professional’s IPhone before a day of back to back appointments. Chances are they wouldn’t know what they are doing all day. If a professional even made $100 per appointment that is kept. It would only take 12 appointments before a professional broke even on the value of their phone.

This proves that the IPhone 7 is worth every cent you pay for it.

To conclude with the potential health value, Professional value and Organizational values of an IPhone. If you actually sit there and say you paid too much for the phone, well you might just be an idiot. Technology is supposed to be our tool, we are not supposed to be a tool of Technology. If you do not get that with this stage in the market, well you might just be set to fall very far behind in your goals for monetary, educational and personal success.

Can you think of any additional value the IPhone adds to the user’s life? Leave a comment below or send it in an email and I will be happy to feature appropriate responses with the user’s name on the blog.

What is Microsoft office? I ask everyone who is trained in”Who cares.” software. Why do you need Google Drive?

  • Free storage
  • Free use of word, ppt and spreadsheet software
  • Collaborative technology need in every marketing space

If you are using anything else. STOP! Your sales teams, Marketing teams and everyone who is not handling private information needs to be using this.

I am not on Google analytics because I don’t need to be… I measure all my Websites with WordPress ratings. What else benefits me with this software?

  • Manages web hosting + Domain in 1 easy place. I know some people don’t like having all their eggs in one basket. For the benefits I have had as a 3 year long user I am okay with it.
  • I can see what blogs drive traffic
  • Convenient easy to use upgrading. For business emails, Business domains and business level web templates.

If you don’t know your Websites IP hits, you can’t sell advertising on it! “Period”.
