The Space Between Us Movie review, Purchased via Google Play.

The Space Between Us Movie Review.png

Ashton Writes: The Space Between us is a Sci-Fi & Romance movie about the first human being born on Mars traveling to earth. Asa Butterfield plays the male lead Gardner the first person ever born on Mars, who is a heart in his sleeves romantic with some social abnormalities from his birth’s circumstances which the movie portrays really well.

The female lead is Britt Robertson who plays Tulsa. One of the first things I like about this film is unlike older movies Britt gets more of the bad ass role opposed to the male lead being the the cool character. Tulsa’s character is a foster child with an intense amount of street smarts who I find is neccescary to capture the adventure the two characters have in the film.

In the film the two characters start of chatting on their computer systems. Then Gardner travels to earth and disappears for 7 months. This of course pisses off Tusla’s character and she almost can’t even tolerate Gardner when she sees him again.

The movie really plays out as a fantastic adventure with the two characters getting to more trouble then you would initially expect. In the end you expect the climax you get to some degree but getting there is so fantastic and wonderful.

I 100% reccomend this movie if you are a fan of romantic movies or Sci-Fi movies. I do not think this movie will disappoint its targetted audience at all. Which is why for my first Google Play Movie Review I will give this movie five stars.

The Russian conspiracy is garbage but there are totally valid reasons to hate Donald Trump!

Thoughts on the Trump Russian Conspiracy theory!.png

Tucker, Eric. “Trump tells Russians Comey was a ‘nut job’; Comey set to testify.” 680 News. N.p., 19 May 2017. Web. 20 May 2017. <680 News Trump dealing with Russian conspiracy theory/>. Here it is again another news article with Trump dealing with the Russian conspiracy everyone is so sure is real! So here is what happened James Comey head of FBI thought he had been developing a case to prove Donald Trump used Russian to sway the election. Well if that is the case Russia did a pretty terrible job! If you are going to hack the election you figure you would give yourself the god damn popular vote!

These democrat sensationalists you will see reading this article don’t even make sense when it comes to Donald Trump. I mean you don’t like him? “Fine! I don’t like him, but lets put out some sensible reasons and build a real case for this destructive moron. “

James Comey is a moron, he was under the employ of Donald Trump. He opens a Russian conspiracy case, finds nothing, riles up the public and then Trump fires him when Comey really should be fined for causing a public panic.

The truth about the approval of the United States President

1000 people took part in a march around the Trump tower. Canadians felt the need to show solidarity with American protesters to show a unified opinion against Donald Trump. For the most part, it was a peaceful protest, unlike others that have been seen. However, you can tell by the tone of the protestors they think trump is a liar, an anarchist, and a man out for destruction. One woman even goes as far to say he has always represented the upper class and she doesn’t know why people think he will be a warrior for the middle class.

I mean and some people are going to say this is Canada, not the United States. We shouldn’t have an opinion on the American official. However, since being president he has been offending Canadians by pressing on us to lighten our dairy regulations to sell American-made cheese. Is it not bad enough we have American oil? Why does Canada need to further the revenue of American dairy farmers?

Why don’t I like Donald Trump?

Listen in dealing with Syria, it is one thing to stop taking in Syrian refugees. It is totally another thing to stop allowing Syrian refugees in your country and destroy their home! I would have supported both actions separately either nuking Syria for military reasons or just stopping refugee entry for security purposes. However, those actions together show a total lacking for human compassion. The United States is basically destroying Syria and taking no responsibility for the lives ruined and that is terrifying!

The other thing is the general public does not like this man, the North American people do not trust this man. How much is he really going to be empowered to do over his term? There is still a chance in 4 years the country just shakes him off like water on a dog and Democrats move forward to just fix his mess. That is honestly my bet for 4 years from now.

Donate to make sure this moron survives one term!

Why some people need to turn the lights out on Technology.

Tech Obsession.png

Ashton Deroy discusses society’s over dependence on technology and personal solutions to rebuilding his own life.

In general in the past I have described over use of technology as the killer for intimate relationships, positive feelings about career & the end of close knit families. Although that doesn’t mean I have enforced the cell phones off dinner yet! I used to have a job in Kingston and this one colleague would invite me to hang out for lunch frequently then call her girlfriend on her phone whilst ignoring me. This got to the point where I didn’t want to have lunch with the colleague. In this article I will discuss the connection between Millennials and their phones, the need for tech free spaces in the home and my own personal disconnect with technology.

In this video I discuss the unhealthy attachment Millennials the generation from 1981-1997 and their unhealthy attachment with their cellphones. I have explained the choice to replace sexual intimacy with a digital device and just the general apathetic detachment this generation has taken for all aspect of their life. One thing I did not do in this article was suggest an alternative, which was starting to disconnect more from your cellphone in your personal life, which I obviously feel is the solution to our over reliance on technology.

HAGUE, MATTHEW . “Stupid homes: Experts suggest people create space without technology.” The Globe and Mail. N.p., 18 Apr. 2017. Web. 12 May 2017. <The Globe & Mail and creating space with out technology>. This article discusses the boundaries of technology from the workplace to the home. The writer of this article is not thrilled with the idea of creating highly technologically reliant homes as opposed to the more traditionally human managed home. The article goes on to mention the scientific research about making space where technology doesn’t dominate the home and how that is linked to lower stress levels. The article defines this current time of technological advancement as an era of addiction.

What has technology done to my life? At this stage in my life technology has taken over my life. Most of my friends only speak to me on the internet, I use my computer to exercise, work, entertain myself and network. It is highly addictive because the power of the internet feels like you legitimately have the world at your fingertips. I mean it is the same rush that had me thinking I would start a wildly successful business in one year, while finding my true love and maintaining old friendships. The truth is Internet businesses mostly fail, people who date online, are addicted to dating online and those old friendships are dead and because of my inability to accept that I prevent myself partially from making new friends!

What am I going to do about it? It is way past bed time for my technology, and it is time for it to take a break. I intend to start leaving my cellphone at home when I start my new job because I don’t need to bring this job, to my new job. Then I plan to stop dating, because I don’t even have romantic fantasies anymore, & lastly I plan to make new friends based on my environment instead of having Facebook Messenger friends 2/47.

Should we do more about mental health issues in Canada’s employment?

Mental illness & working!.png

Deroy, Ashton. “Hard At Work: Why mental health in the workplace is often misunderstood and stigmatized.” CBC.ca. N.p., 12 Apr. 2017. Web. 7 May 2017. <http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/hard-at-work-mental-health-1.4067499>. CBC reports according to the mental health commission of Canada 500,000 Canadians are left unable to work due to mental illness. Diana Skye, the person who does the content guidelines for the Toronto-Businessphere left me a question. Do I think Canada needs to do more for people with mental illness in the workplace? To explore this topic, I want to look at the job market, barriers to job access and regulations around mental illness in the Canadian workplace.

Job Market

Lets face it if you are a person coping with mental illness & you are on the job market. You probably don’t have a lot of long term work experience! However you have these morons in career centers pushing what are known as Chronological resumes. These resumes leave you explaining how long you have worked at a job, why you left it so soon and etc. Personally, I omit dates from my employment history. Stuff happens and I find it rather unfair that the worker carries 100% of the blame for every prior job.

Barriers to job access

You can’t get a job unless you have 2-5 years of experience in many companies, unless you have 100% availability and the job becomes your entire life. Lets be real, this is the situation in Canada at this time. That is why in many areas recreational spending is dropping, or people are turning over employment due to unhappiness. Here are just some of the things preventing you from getting a job. (Despite the ideals of regulations)

  1. Having Dependents – Children limit your availability and in many employer’s eyes hinder your ability to meet the demands of the job.
  2. Having doctor’s appointments – If you tell a company upon looking to be hired that you have to miss time for Doctor’s appointments. They will turn you away in the interview. I have seen this with fast food, customer service & Marketing jobs consistently! See they want to live in this idealistic realm where employees have 100% show rates.
  3. Problems at home – This is a never ending see-saw. If you have problems at home, you will have problems keeping a job. If you have problems keeping a job you accelerate problems at home! This is why many people in situations of domestic abuse, coping with tragedy & or sickness will turnover their employment.

Regulations

https://www.ontario.ca/page/accessibility-laws – Laws promoting accessibility in the workplace.

What needs to be done? In the industries we can, we need to throw out 11-12 hour work days! Either by making anything past 8 hours over time or banning it all together. We need to employ the 35 hour work week law. This way if you have stuff to take care of, it can be taken care of. Many mentally unstable people likely depend on themselves for all elements necessary to their own survival. When you work 40-50 hours a week that just gets too challenging! Lastly we need workplace audits, if a workplace has a ton of churn it is time for Employment Ontario to step in and ask

“Why is this place having people go in and out so much?” It shouldn’t be entirely up to workers to hold organizations up to legal standards (Not being met

Perceptual map of the cosmetics industry.

Perceptual map of makeup industry.png

Written by Diana Skye

This is a perceptual map of popular beauty brands. The further to the right a brand is, the higher the quality of their products. The higher up a brand is, the more expensive they are.

Bottom Left: Wallet-friendly brands with low-quality products

Elf: One of the least expensive makeup brands. While they have some good products, the quality is very hit and miss. I have bad experiences with their eye shadow and brushes. However, I did like the brow kit.

Colourpop: An online-only brand made popular by social media. I have not tried them but seen many reviews on their products. Their first launch of matte liquid lipsticks got very negative reviews, being compared to nail polish on your lips. On the other hand, the satin liquid lipsticks were well received.

Reviews: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VCF40kxhJo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrhcu6sVAGQ

Coastal Scents: They started out making large eye shadow palettes, but have since branched out into other products. I used the shimmer palette several years ago. While I liked the variety of shades, some colors worked better than others. Also, there was a lot of glitter fallout.

Bottom Right: Wallet-friendly brands with high-quality products

Wet N Wild: Not only is Wet N Wild very affordable, the quality is comparable to high-end brands. I always say that if you need an inexpensive neutral palette, get Comfort Zone. It has eight high-quality shadows for less than $5. Their lip and cheek products are also very good.

Nyx: Nyx has one of the best color selections I have seen for eye and lip products. I am seldom disappointed by what I try from them. They have expanded quite a bit as there are now Nyx stores in Canada.

Top Left: High-end brands with low-quality products

Kylie Cosmetics: I refuse to buy from Kylie Cosmetics and not just because I dislike the Kardashians. They are owned by the same brand as Colourpop. The lip kits are very similar, but more than double the price. Also, they have had issues with quality control, such as nearly empty liquid lipsticks.

Reviews: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfJS4AeesAU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxZGf4WoZew

Too Faced: While Too Faced used to be one of my favorite brands, the quality has gone downhill in the past year and a half. The peach line is very inconsistent and a brow product was released in only two shades. The last new release I enjoyed was the Bon Bon’s palette.

Top right: High-end brands with high-quality products

Pixi: Pixi specializes in high-quality natural products. In addition to makeup, there are a lot of skin care products. While it’s available at Target or Shoppers Drug Mart, the prices are higher than drugstore brands. However, I would recommend their skin care to anyone who does not want to splurge on brands at Sephora.

Urban Decay: My first high-end purchase was from Urban Decay and I have loved them every since. Their palettes are well loved for a good reason since they have one of the best eyeshadow formulas. They also make my favorite face highlighter and have over a hundred shades of lipstick.

Kat Von D beauty: This brand was started by the artist of the same name. I have yet to buy a product I dislike from Kat Von D beauty. While the products are expensive, I feel they are worth the money. The liquid lipsticks are my favorite formula.

Written by Ashton Deroy: In the new era of attempting to find marketability for websites, apps and software applications. Developers often try to make application, website or their service have nothing to do with the people involved.

1. What are the 4 I’s of service? Intangibility, Inconsistency, Inseparability and Inventory.

People have everything to do with your business! Stop taking them out of the process. In purchasing. Emotions, perceptions and beliefs never stop mattering.

Three things users hate when they arrive to a website:

  • They can’t find a public profile for the person they just talked to – This shows this person has no authority within the company and therefore does not matter. People are more aware of the Power distant index and working for Rogers Communications customers realized if they didn’t want to do a simple transaction process, add services or troubleshoot tech. I had no authority.
  • You can’t find information on the company authority – A customer can’t find the boss because the boss doesn’t want to talk to them! This still works for bigger companies but in smaller companies the boss needs to be available at the user’s beckon call.
  • Comprehensive information on background, mission and history – Why does this venture exist? What is the purpose? What is the owner’s history prior to starting this venture? Chances are that is all the information needed for traffic to make their mind up towards making a purchasing decision.

20 Reasons Publishing strategies are better for boosting brands.

  1. Behavioral target segmentation – You want to sell fishing gear? You create a fishing blog, magazine or forum.
  2. Readers become customers – First they read your work, then they trust your authority lastly they go to you with a problem. That is how I was able to get Dignity Repairs as a client in 2015.
  3. Editorials create a press interest – Every-time you post a blog there is chance someone picks it up, finds it interesting and then next thing you know, a brand has impressions on blogs, news outlets and radio stations. Refer to my ex clients’ BBC interview on the third gender in beyond the binary.
  4. Viral effect – The internet now has a way of spreading brand impressions on the web even out of a community manager’s control. In other words going viral! 🙂
  5. Indexing -Customers are looking for someone like you! With Canada 411 if you are a restaurant, web developer or driving taxi. You need to be indexed so you can convert customers right from your listing.
  6. Informational strategies – With Publishing all the information needed to make a purchase decision is put up in to a convenient area on the web.
  7. Growing contacts – Every-time someone likes an ad on Facebook the company receives their contact information which is good for potentially prospecting leads
  8. Integrated Marketing Communications – A Publicist creates a consistency for every element in the promotional mix to make sure everything is done in an effort to maximize campaign efforts and meet the goals with the key performance indicators.
  9. Primary research acquired – Through 13 blogs I’ve been able to figure out, how to generate web traffic? How to sell using web content? What makes your audience bounce off a website? What makes them stay?
  10. Tags research – A good Publicists looks at tags, measures their engagement and looks at who is saying what.
  11. Knowing where to be and when to announce it – In Kingston, Kingston Pride competed with a variety of gay events businesses. Rather than being exactly everywhere the competitors were, we decided to take to the strategy of being louder. More social media ads, an external web promotion and print/radio publications our competitors could not use.
  12. Telling the story – Why do you pay writers Ashton? Well that is because writers know how to tell you about a business launch, product/service expansion or event and make it interesting! The worst content creator you can acquire is someone who only has a Business or Advertising background. They usually know nothing about creating high traffic content.
  13. Establishing authority – Not just through text and alerting people to your certifications. There are certain ways to set up a website that show authority and other ways which make you look like you are blogging out of a basement.
  14. Managing conversations – It is not enough to post content in tags, you actually have to engage with people in the tags. A publisher does that.
  15. Establishing relationships with influential members of the community
  16. Accessing a Publishers’ personal contacts. Some are linked to famous YouTube channels, News papers and marketing channels that you wouldn’t have access to other wise.
  17. Content scheduling – The reason why Publishers want a brand to post constantly is to avoid becoming invisible. It takes 24 hours for a brand to go mute in today’s online market.
  18. Analyzing Marketing dashboards – Looking at Key Performance indicators for a marketing campaign and determining why factors were high or weren’t.
  19. Creating the brand – The best hot brands are created with a publishing strategy in mind
  20. High Traffic channel management – We manage the contacts of Facebook, Instagram, Google, Websites and Press.

Ashton Deroy Writes “I heard this morning about the attack that left 5 dead near British Parliament from 680 News. This is deeply saddening and tragic news that we are still facing these acts of hate in 2017.”

http://www.680news.com/2017/03/22/5-dead-vehicle-knife-attack-near-british-parliament/

It takes a special kind of lunatic to say “I am going to make a statement of defiance by killing people with my car!” If you really feel that defiant don’t join a cult movement. Take up drinking… Like normal people!”Satirical commentary on the above event.

Diana UK.png

Diana & I talk.png

Diana Skye writes: I was very saddened to hear about what happened in London. While there have been terrorist attacks all over Europe in recent years, the UK was largely spared from them. It just goes to show you are never completely safe from these heartless and selfish terrorists.

Even in Canada there have been attacks, notably the one in Ottawa in 2014 and the incident Ashton and I discussed above. That was when a terrorist attacker wielding a knife went into a military recruitment centre in Toronto and stabbed two soldiers. He also attempted to stab Ashton’s aunt who worked there. Fortunately none of the injuries were serious.

My thoughts go out to London and everyone affected by such senseless attacks.

Organizational Culture Study for Business Management Class.

Ashton Deroy Writes Now to move on to some cool Business School assignments I wanted to share with Blog readers.

What is Organizational Culture? According to works cited in the PDF Organizational culture is defined as, A set of values, beliefs & attitudes possessed by employees of a company.

The major players we found in Organizational culture were:

    • Terrence Deal and Allan A.Kennedy – They proposed one of the first models of organizational culture. Terrence was a University professor at the University of California.
    • Eric Sinoway – A writer who writes boldly for Harvard Business Review that top performers who hurt employee culture should be fired.
    • James Wolfensohn – A former investment banker who said re-staffing management roles was the best way to change organizational structure in a company.

Organizational Culture

Statement

One cool thing I found on the work for successful Organizational Cultures, is that they have a lot of affirmative action. A company wants to cut out the cancers so that the life that is the company can live with the highest quality. Alot this statement stems from the investment banker James Wolfensohn’s work in organizational culture structure in the investment banking section of finance.

On thing a professor repeats to me consistently is this. “You can’t soar with eagles, when you fly with chickens.” I apply this to work relationships, friendships & choice of romantic partners.

I have seen what being passive gets you from years of watching loved ones get screwed over by toxic relationships, friendships & relatives. So why bring that crap to work?
