Blogged by Ashton Deroy: July 13th 2017, I am reading the huffington post for the first time ever about Canada’s amazing governor general Julie Payette. In case you didn’t know, this woman has lived an incredible life. Apart from being in the government she is a philanthropist, an advocate for positive technological movements & a lifetime explorer. Here are three things you didn’t know about Julie Payette.

  1. Julie Payette was the first Canadian woman to go to the International Space Station in 1999. She went up a second time in 2009.
  2. Payette was awarded an honorary doctorate of science (DSc) from the University of Lethbridge in 2005. (According to WikiPedia)
  3. Although she is a woman governor general she is not the first woman to hold this role. Julie Payette is the fourth woman to hold the role of governor general in Canada.

To conclude Julie Payette is an incredible woman with a spectacular adventure that lead her to being Canada’s fourth woman to hold the title of Governor General. However I am a huge fan and I do hope this is not the last time we do see her in the news. As you know from previously reviewing Space Between Us & comments on space documentaries on YouTube. I am a huge fan of space travel in both fiction and real life. Which has made me a fan of Julie Payette.

CHIASSON, PAUL . “Julie Payette Named Next Governor General Of Canada.” Huffington post. N.p., 13 July 2017. Web. 13 July 2017. <Huffington Post article >. This is the article that taught me about the incredible journey of Canada’s fourth female governor general Julie Payette from space to government. This article highlights some but not all of this woman’s incredible life journey to being appointed Canada’s governor general. The article was published by PAUL CHIASSON/CANADIAN PRESS and I have to say for the Huffington Post it is a well written article. Previously in other political coverage I have accused this Newspaper of being sensationalist and bluntly wrong in some cases.

Wikipedia. “Julie Payette.” Wikipedia. N.p., 13 July 2017. Web. 13 July 2017. This is the Wikipedia article that informed me about Julie Payette’s educational background, honors achieved & Space flight experience. From this Wikipedia entry you can really gather more on Julie Payette’s incredible journey to such an honorable position within Canada. Wikipedia is a website with multiple contributors per entry so we were not able to include an author credit to this as Wikipedia indexes multiple references, from multiple contributors to ensure accuracy of Wikipedia entries.

Ashton Deroy: Weirdest thing I buy at the drug store

Why do I buy diabetic socks? That is like so weird! Actually, the compression relieves pain in my feet from the stress of running, inactivity or over activity.

Relief of this pain has helped with the quality of sleep, relaxation and even meditation.

Compression socks are a must have for athletes, Factory workers, Call center workers.

Sohail Zafar Shaikh

Each of the pictures link to a campaign page or blog post for the Seneca Student Federation picks I have for the upcoming SSF election. The candidates I have picked are Sohail Zafar for Board of Director’s spot, Viktorria Kovalchuk for Vice President & lastly Roma Rorssf

Viktorria – I support her for her elite background, ideals for improving quality of life at Seneca and fundraising ideas.

Sohail Zafar – Is in my kickboxing class, a respectful guy. He is not running for a paid position but he does have great ideas for diversifying our food menus.

Roma Rorssf – I almost supported her adversary but because Roma took my interview and Nicole didn’t. I chose to support Roma instead. Here is an idea, support the people who support you!

Remember to vote on March 20th at Seneca Newnham campus.

What does the success of #TeganTuesday have to do with competing in the market?

Why is Tegan’s campaign successful in my educated opinion as a Business Administration and Marketing Student at Seneca College?

Our People + Target audience + Features and Benefits= Brand positioning for sales.

Tegan personalizes content, she talks to her frequent and new shoppers in the videos and she makes time to talk to customers online and in person. Rather than leaving comments on ads unattended they usually reply to commented content online.

Brand Positioning formula for failing to sales companies.

Name + Offering + Features & Benefits = Positioning on the Market. Why is that formula wrong?

Think of it like this people don’t care about your brand name that is just white noise… The offering, again if they don’t care about your name they probably don’t care about your offering! Features & Benefits, this is good for you. A digital marketing firm approached me about a website today, because they lacked in personalized messaging and they wrote an email about their prestigious name and features and benefits. I said to the firm I would rather hire teenagers than snobs.

What was the problem?

They didn’t even create a sales rapport with me, they didn’t ask how I was doing. Or state they understood my brand’s offering. They just pitched!

Did I give you permission to pitch?

To conclude when it comes to sales & Marketing don’t take personalized approaches out of it. “The Professional approach sucks!” Selling is always personal and it will always be personal. If you are a company just trying to sell a name, well then you are selling wrong. If you are a company selling quality service workers to customers who you know. Then you are selling correctly!
