Ashton’s Re-introduction

Check out the latest Businessphere project. AshtonDeroy.ca

Before anyone can expect to do business you must get to know someone first & understand their title. So what is a Community Manager?

Community Manager.png

Google sums up that I manage brands social media networks & connect with potential customers then advocate accordingly.

But what is Ashton’s Persona?

To answer that here are three things about Ashton that are pretty cool!

Privacy on the web.png

Ashton Deroy Writes: So I watched the The Terrifying Cost of “Free” Websites, by College Humor .

I have to say this a bluntly common designed entertainment video, that this content  deliberately instills a technophobic reaction in the general ignorant masses. What is wrong with this video? It misleads, it does not include protection facts, prominent solutions for less invasive advertising & tools being created for product users.

Misleading

Most of Facebook targeting is done by pages you like, Statuses you post & searches you made. In fact jokingly after posting gay statuses you can see the advertisements on Facebook’s side ads change to LGBT targeted ads.

Advertisers are not going to Facebook & Google buying target customers. In fact sometimes all advertisers are doing is putting out the message and learning more about their user that maybe they didn’t know. For example Toronto-Businessphere is a English speaking Web Publishing business, that did not realize at first that our specific benefit was our language services in delivering a marketing product.

Facebook encourages protection of your Facebook passwords and accounts from employers.

Posted by Facebook and Privacy on Friday, March 23, 2012

From a modern day stand point this is good that Facebook has made this communication because in the modern day employers are granted way too much allowance in regards to your personal communications. They are now able to monitor what you say publicly, gag you from publishing anything about the company & companies honestly would like access to employee private communications. However Facebook stands on the side against your employer being able to have full control over their employee relationships & privacy.

Do not sell personal data.png

Google does not sell your personal profile. They sell your data algorithms to advertisers who might be relevant to your interest. This is a common practice by Publishers prior to Google. Google just revolutionized the process. Sadly what people think is Google has a picture of you and they are selling you to people. Which is not the reality of what they are doing.

After analyzing the services, you can actually see Google is protecting their proprietary information at a much higher level than Facebook.

Prominent solutions for less invasive Marketing

Okay after doing some research I can say maybe we do take too much information from users on tools like Google & Facebook. The general feeling for users of those tools can even sometime be that they are getting too much of their proprietary information out voluntarily.

Banner ads – These are a bit of an older method for digital marketing but publishing ads on related websites, common interest websites of their customers. Make sure these ads are set up by the website creator though & not an automated system as that still uses data mining tools to target ad campaigns to specific users based on inputted or mined data that the user submits.

Video Marketing – Creating video content and growing your community around that on YouTube & WordPress.

Point of sale print outs -This can include flyers, Coupons, business cards & signage. All of which can help boost your sales on location and are not invasive ways of marketing. Refer to Vista Print

.com setup – This is all the user data I get from my .com here on the Businessphere. None of it was involuntarily obtained &  It has no user specific interests. Rather it allows me to see my highest rated content, where click through come from and where the website has the most hits geographically. Data.png

Collaborative technology.png

Google Drive offers data to back up files, share leads and collaborate on research or creative work. This software has basically made Microsoft obsolete from work from home marketers, publishers, researchers & shop owners. This will probably be the staple software of the future work from home people.

2167, How I see the future 150 years from now!

Ashton Deroy: Is a Business Administration and Marketing Student from Seneca College.

About this piece: It is a very bleak piece in regards to waste, the poor economic practices and pollution. I thought it was important to focus on what we are doing poorly at this time so that maybe we could work out way in to doing things better to make a future that was less bleak.

The future.png

A lot of people think that one hundred and fifty years our biggest problem will be automated jobs, advanced technology. They think we will enter a new era where creativity and good self-management will rule the roost.

When I talk about 150 years from now I don’t even consider automation apart of the conversation and I don’t think we are going to see a revolution of self-managed workers!

To look at 150 years from now I will look at 6 key business environments and determine what key factors they will play in our future.

Hell.png

Technology

This is the big one, Technology! Do I see self-driven cars? Tubes taking us from one destination to the next?

No I see this, What is this? Ladies and gentleman that is electronic waste.

Electronic waste.jpg

In this future we will have to re-regulate the way we consume technology. There is going to be a push for technology to commit to a 5-10 year life span guarantee. We will no longer be able to let technology obsolete in 1-3 years. Instead companies that develop tech will have to guarantee support & function for 10 years and then the companies will have to give an 60% commitment to their own E-Waste.

Social environment

Do I see a new revolutionary stance on human rights? Sort of, we are going to have to start focusing on the rights with the most significance. The rights to a living wage, the rights to employment & the rights to clean air. People are asking for equality, in the future they will demand it.

In the future 3/10 people will be employed by call centers. Not as a first choice job but a fall back job in a lacking economy. Pretty much you are going to see everyone who used to work a retail store now picking up a telephone for some sort of company worldwide. The rest of people will work in food services, Infrastructure maintenance military services, health care. Non-essential services will become almost irrelevant as at this point only the wealthiest 1% people can afford high fashion, high tech and etc.

Global Environment

Travel will likely have tighter restrictions that make it something only the top 5% can do. The infrastructure for travel will be lacking otherwise and people will likely have to opt to walk or bike to work as public transportation systems will likely collapse under the high demand.

I predict on and off times of nuclear war, extreme terrorism and people struggling to recruit a general population with ideals of extremism and religion. In the future more people will be open to extreme ideals and religion as when society struggles religion is a trend it tends to turn to so that there are answers to the experienced atrocities.

Political Environment

The ideals of a democratic society will be long gone. It will be a non-transparent government. With too many communication channels they will no long be effective in communicating with the public. Democracy will continue to be participated in with lack of understanding. A lot of the laws will favor the top 1%.

Politically I think the government will have to make strategic communication plans to appeal to those in religious groups. Rather than appeal to people with ideals on how democracy should be.

Competitive environment

There will be a few large players in jobs that deal with raw materials. Companies who handle the raw materials will likely have a larger voice in law creation, political structure and infrastructure. Then there will be too many players in service industries, food, communications and Customer service.

Economic environment

People will now make less than they do now. We will not divide our lack of resources well to the density of people per area. Poverty will be highly common.

The validity of Content Marketing & website information systems.

Seneca Library Macy's case study.png

If you were ever curious about who helped Macy find their digital marketing success for 2015. Look no further than Madras, the company has basically validated the effectiveness with their results for the digital marketing campaign for Macy’s in the United States and why it is important for a company to outsource  (hire external from the company)  digital marketing jobs. Why does this excite me? It validates Marketing beyond just sales generation.

The Marketing agency executed the web listings for 300,000 products, executed delivery of 3,000 creative units, managed 100,000 assets on Macys.com CMS and maintained 15,000 search engine landing pages. This information proves the importance of setting up website information systems opposed to website advertising systems which only record short bits of information to generate quick sales or lead foot traffic to a store.

“Macy’s Case Study.” Seneca Libraries. N.p., n.d. Web. 15 May 2017. <Seneca Libraries database>. Macy’s Case study reveals results for their Content Management system campaign, digital marketing & digital selling. The article discusses how through the Content management campaign they were able to get 15,000 pieces of Macy’s content indexed in search engines. Basically, Madras took the brand from the digital perspective and made it a high functioning machine for their digital channels including social media, website blog, Search engine indexes & video content.

Publication Plans: PDF click to see.

Written by Ashton Deroy: Hello readers, I am so glad you decided to read this statement about moving forward with Toronto-Businessphere. Our goal is to really grow this publication this summer with another video release, selling more marketing packages and we want to re-do our logo to better position the brand.

Write with us

Submit potential articles to Ashtonderoy@gmail.com . Discuss anything business related, you can even do your own calls to action.

Opportunities to partner with the publication:

.com creation & widget ad = $250

Content plan = $365 per month for daily content updates.

Direct sales campaigns for  lead generation= $1,000

$1120= 2 sales rep on sales execution. (No commission contracts)

Business planning = $1000

Why we charge before sales? It is not our job to create market viability unless you hire us for that. It is our job to contact leads you provide us with. Written by Ashton Deroy: In the new era of attempting to find marketability for websites, apps and software applications. Developers often try to make application, website or their service have nothing to do with the people involved.

1. What are the 4 I’s of service? Intangibility, Inconsistency, Inseparability and Inventory.

People have everything to do with your business! Stop taking them out of the process. In purchasing. Emotions, perceptions and beliefs never stop mattering.

Three things users hate when they arrive to a website:

  • They can’t find a public profile for the person they just talked to – This shows this person has no authority within the company and therefore does not matter.  People are more aware of the Power distant index and working for Rogers Communications customers realized if they didn’t want to do a simple transaction process, add services or troubleshoot tech. I had no authority.
  • You can’t find information on the company authority – A customer can’t find the boss because the boss doesn’t want to talk to them! This still works for bigger companies but in smaller companies the boss needs to be available at the user’s beckon call.
  • Comprehensive information on background, mission and history – Why does this venture exist? What is the purpose? What is the owner’s history prior to starting this venture? Chances are that is all the information needed for traffic to make their mind up towards making a purchasing decision.

Marketing Services

20 Reasons Publishing strategies are better for boosting brands.

  1. Behavioral target segmentation – You want to sell fishing gear? You create a fishing blog, magazine or forum.
  2. Readers become customers – First they read your work, then they trust your authority lastly they go to you with a problem. That is how I was able to get Dignity Repairs as a client in 2015.
  3. Editorials create a press interest – Every-time you post a blog there is chance someone picks it up, finds it interesting and then next thing you know, a brand has impressions on blogs, news outlets and radio stations. Refer to my ex clients’ BBC interview on the third gender in beyond the binary.
  4. Viral effect – The internet now has a way of spreading brand impressions on the web even out of a community manager’s control.  In other words going viral! 🙂
  5. Indexing -Customers are looking for someone like you! With Canada 411 if you are a restaurant, web developer or driving taxi. You need to be indexed so you can convert customers right from your listing.
  6. Informational strategies – With Publishing all the information needed to make a purchase decision is put up in to a convenient area on the web.
  7. Growing contacts – Every-time someone likes an ad on Facebook the company receives their contact information which is good for potentially prospecting leads
  8. Integrated Marketing Communications – A Publicist creates a consistency for every element in the promotional mix to make sure everything is done in an effort to maximize campaign efforts and meet the goals with the key performance indicators.
  9. Primary research acquired – Through 13 blogs I’ve been able to figure out, how to generate web traffic? How to sell using web content? What makes your audience bounce off a website? What makes them stay?
  10. Tags research – A good Publicists looks at tags, measures their engagement and looks at who is saying what.
  11. Knowing where to be and when to announce it – In Kingston, Kingston Pride competed with a variety of gay events businesses. Rather than being exactly everywhere the competitors were, we decided to take to the strategy of being louder. More social media ads, an external web promotion and print/radio publications our competitors could not use.
  12. Telling the story – Why do you pay writers Ashton? Well that is because writers know how to tell you about a business launch, product/service expansion or event and make it interesting! The worst content creator you can acquire is someone who only has a Business or Advertising background. They usually know nothing about creating high traffic content.
  13. Establishing authority – Not just through text and alerting people to your certifications. There are certain ways to set up a website that show authority and other ways which make you look like you are blogging out of a basement.
  14. Managing conversations – It is not enough to post content in tags, you actually have to engage with people in the tags. A publisher does that.
  15. Establishing relationships with influential members of the community
  16. Accessing a Publishers’ personal contacts. Some are linked to famous YouTube channels, News papers and marketing channels that you wouldn’t have access to other wise.
  17. Content scheduling – The reason why Publishers want a brand to post constantly is to avoid becoming invisible. It takes 24 hours for a brand to go mute in today’s online market.
  18. Analyzing Marketing dashboards – Looking at Key Performance indicators for a marketing campaign and determining why factors were high or weren’t.
  19. Creating the brand – The best hot brands are created with a publishing strategy in mind
  20. High Traffic channel management – We manage the contacts of Facebook, Instagram, Google, Websites and Press.

Why I hate crappy web designer apps like Wixx & WebFlow

WebFlow.png

Ashton Deroy, is a web Marketing expert who attends Seneca College for Business & Marketing. He is a graduate of St. Lawrence College’s interactive Marketing program and Loyalist College’s Creative Advertising program.

Ashton Deroy Writes:

Okay yes hiring engineers to do websites unless you are willing to spend $1000+ is garbage. I still hate these services like Webflow and WIXX! Why do I hate them? These services target average users, who create bad looking projects and who are never properly trained to use the software to its optimum use!

Why do I hate them? it is because of this idealization “Lets give morons the capability to be designers. then let them execute a sloppy ass website that won’t meet their promotion objectives, won’t meet their goals and oh yeah not a single person will consult with them who is an expert making the website stupid as hell!”

Then there is more dumb shit that comes from these software tools as well. Not only do you get morons making lame ass websites, they also miss the following essential features for executing web marketing campaigns.

  • Marketing dashboard- Where do you measure your key performance indicators? Where are you going to measure website bounce, what content is attracting traffic versus really bad content. All blogs should be setup on WordPress for the dashboard alone.
• Social media integration – Sharing options for posts to Facebook. Calls to action to increase social media followings and a funnel for potential leads.
  • Lead retrieval
  • SEO writing tools (Most stupid over priced websites are missing this)
  • Tag use – Where is the conversation happening? A Tag is like your Walkies talkie channel. You choose a frequency where your messaging can occur.
  • Traffic generation strategy– People set up these design websites that are stationary in traffic and think they will make them money. The idea is stupid as hell! Websites generate their traffic  from Social media, Search engines and printed promotion.

Why I use WordPress

I used to use a dumb ass engineer named Rick Wirthlin! The guy had no people skills and I was worse off pay $500 for one of his websites than paying $460 for one of my own.

Why do I use WordPress?

  • Informational website setups
  • Built in traffic system
  • Tags to have conversations in
  • The SEO Writing tool
  • WordPress websites rank higher than customs
  • Attracting Press attention
  • Easy E Commerce integration
  • All the tools I need for website operation in one convenient place.

Small Business = Big pressure!

Small Business = Big Pressure.png

Written by Ashton Deroy: Small Businesses are currently defined in Canada as Businesses with under 100 employees. With that in mind we should define a micro-business as a business with under 20 employees.

A lot of people think if you work in a small business this takes away your pressure for high performance and professionalism. When in fact your small team and close knit relationship with your boss probably in fact demands a higher performance not less!

While people may think it is okay to express stress by exhibiting bad attitudes at work. The fact of the matter is in a small business setting the quarters are much too tight between a boss and the employees to display that kind of behavior. As a result this cliche proves that you need to perform higher in a small business rather than lower. It goes to show Starter companies are not the kickback, feet on the table kind of businesses people expect them to be!

Promotional Messaging

Widget advertising.png

Higher stakes when employees under perform.

Personal Capital at stake– Take it from Ashton Deroy an ex employee of two small businesses. When the boss has personal equity in the business and they know their ass is on the line. They are far more likely to care when you screw up! Far less likely to show sympathies bigger companies have the benefits of showing.

Running a small business is serious and if they have gotten the business to self-sustain you can bet the spent a lot of money to get there. I have worked for an ex Health food store in Brighton Ontario which has shut down and Willow’s Publishing on commission. Those were to examples of the most anal bosses I have ever had!

Pressure to keep up – If you are the new guy on a 5-20 person team. You can start your job with your foot half way out the door because the first 3 months will make you or break you. Now is the time to shine, or pack your shit. Dangers of entering a business clique like this is working against the waves in motion, haunting productivity or going against the business culture. Your best hope is to assimilate and find your place in the business.

Pressure to prove you are worth the cost – In a small business every puzzle piece has to fit. If you can’t prove you are worth the money, save the business money or generate revenue. You are out the door.

To conclude weather you are the employee of a small business or the owner. There are a lot of pressures in play when use real money to self-start a real business. If you look to fit in to the small business culture prove you are a good investment, keep up at the job and prove you are worth every dime in your new job. If you don’t you will just be the guy who used to work for the small business company.
